I grew up in Ukrainian Village, Chicago. Most influential in my artwork are my childhood memories and dreams. All around me, women created exceptional embroideries and painted Easter eggs called Pysanky; additionally, Icons were ever-present. So, art is part of my culture and history passed down through the centuries. As an immigrant, I wanted to create a ‘new, safer inner world’. A more acceptable world of beauty and reality is found in the backyards, streets, churches, and parks of Chicago. This urban meditation influenced and changed my world,
I decided for my life’s career to be an artist. I got my associate degree at the Chicago Academy of Art and my Bachelor's in Graphic Design from the University of Illinois, Chicago. I’ve had a Design Business for over 30 years.
